Pat Sajak’s final Wheel of Fortune episode has been set. The longtime television personality took over the post from Chuck Woolery in 1981, serving as host of the daytime broadcast through 1989 and the nighttime broadcast beginning in 1983, going on to become the longest-serving game show host on a single show, surpassing Bob Barker’s The Price is Right stint as of 2019. In June 2023, Sajak announced that he would be departing the show on a then-unspecified date in 2024, at which point he will be replaced by American Idol and New Year’s Rockin’ Eve host Ryan Seacrest.
Per TVLine, Sajak’s final Wheel of Fortune episode is set to air on Friday, June 7. The episode, which was filmed on April 5, will conclude season 41 of the long-running show. When Seacrest steps in to replace the host beginning in season 42, Sajak’s longtime letter-turner Vanna White, who joined the show just a year after Sajak in 1982, will be returning alongside him.
