The murderous doll continues his unending quest for power in Chucky season 3, part 2. Chucky has been wreaking havoc in the White House after weaseling his way into the hands of America’s First Family, but Jake, Devon, and Lexy will continue to do all they can to stop his twisted scheme while dealing with the challenges that come with growing up. As Chucky closes in on his goal, the question becomes whether anyone will be able to stop him with ultimate power at his fingertips.
Don Mancini has been the beating heart of the Chucky franchise since it began with Child’s Play. The television series has given him a unique opportunity to not only delve deeper into Chucky’s lore and psyche but also explore the heroes of the story. The third season of Chucky is just as bloody and terrifying as it has become infamous for, but it also brings the demonic doll into the world of politics as his search for power takes on a new level of horror in the White House.
Chucky Season 3 Is Bringing Back A Cult Icon (But As A New Character)
A legendary cult icon is joining the cast of Chucky season 3, despite already having appeared as a different character in the Child’s Play franchise.
Screen Rant interviewed Chucky creator Don Mancini and star Devon Sawa about the second half of season 3. Sawa reflected on his opportunity to play different characters each season and teased exciting things to come for his current character, President James Collins. Mancini also teased Chucky season 4 and a potential new movie that would tie into the events of the television series.
Don Mancini Is Developing A New Chucky Movie “Designed To Work In Tandem” With The Show
Sawa has been a part of Chucky since the series began, but unlike the rest of the cast, he plays a new character each season. Chucky puts the characters in mortal danger every season, but Sawa gets to mimic the demonic doll himself by returning even after his characters become victims.
Devon Sawa: It’s been a blast. It’s been so much fun. It’s every time he gives me a new character, it’s exciting to bring that character to life and sprinkle in my own kind of take on it. We’ve come so far, too, from where I started with Lucas to where this particular season ends. It’s just been such a roller coaster of craziness, and it’s been a gift. It’s been a real gift.
Mancini has been the guiding voice of the Chucky franchise from the beginning. Because of this, he is able to pull in lore from across the movies into the Chucky series, but it also sets up interesting possibilities for the future. Mancini teased hopes for a fourth season and a movie that would work in tandem with it to continue expanding Chucky’s story.
Don Mancini: In tandem is my hope. We’re hoping we’ll get a Season 4 of the show. Fingers crossed. I pitched the idea already to the network, so we’re hoping on that. But I’m also in the early stages of starting to develop a new movie now, and the movie is designed to work in tandem with the show. So that’s my hope and our dream of conquering the universe is that we can just keep expanding the Chucky verse in this way. So that’s my hope. We’ll see what happens.
Could Chucky Potentially Expand Into Graphic Novels?
Sawa teased an exciting turn in Chucky season 3, but also an unfortunate ending for his latest character, continuing the pattern from the past two seasons. However, he also reflected on how President James Collins is the most grounded character he has portrayed in Chucky thus far.
Devon Sawa: It’s been a lot of fun. He’s the most grounded of all the characters I’ve played. I think dealing with the whole supernatural aspect has been a lot of fun for me. It’s been interesting. I love the turn he takes when he takes that turn, if you want to call it a turn. Another cool death. It’s been great. It’s been a lot of fun
The Chucky franchise continues to grow with Mancini hoping to continue the story both with a fourth season and a new movie. Beyond Mancini’s story, Chucky also appeared in the Dead by Daylight video game, which Mancini commented on. However, he also discussed the potential of continuing Chucky’s story across different mediums, including graphic novels or reviving the comics.
Don Mancini: I did not have anything to do with the crossover into Dead by Night, although I applaud it. It seems to have gone down well with fans, so I think that’s cool. And yeah, similar to what I was just talking about with regard to movies and future seasons of the TV show, we have talked about graphic novels in the past.
We’ve had comic books, so we’ve talked about reviving that. Chucky’s presence in the zeitgeist seems like it’s not receding, which fingers crossed, sounds like we didn’t screw the pooch yet with the second half of Season 3. It seems like it’s landing well with people, so hopefully, we can keep expanding in this way.
