The BAFTAs, known as the British film industry’s equivalent of the Oscars, showcased the best of red-carpet fashion on Sunday, with many Hollywood A-listers flaunting their sartorial glamour. Among them, our very own Deepika Padukone turned heads as she took on the role of presenter at the awards function. The event also highlighted some of the hottest trends of 2024, from peach-toned ensembles — Pantone’s colour of the year — to the cut-out craze.
Let’s take a closer look at some of the standout looks of the night.
Deepika — making her BAFTA red carpet debut — stunned in a shimmering Sabyasachi sari adorned with sequins throughout, paired elegantly with a matching strappy blouse. She completed her ensemble with statement earrings, minimal makeup, and a chic messy bun.
Margot Robbie exuded old Hollywood glam in a custom gown by Giorgio Armani Privé. Her velvety opera gloves, drop earrings, nude makeup, and perfectly knotted bun complemented her look.
Robbie’s costar in Barbie, Ryan Gosling, nominated for Leading Actor, looked ‘Kenough’ in his custom Gucci suit, comprising of a white blazer with red piping, a matching crisp shirt, and pants.
Meanwhile, Emma Stone, winner of the Leading Actress category for her role in Poor Things, looked stunning in a peach one-shouldered gown from Louis Vuitton, reminiscent of her character’s costuming in the film. Her coral makeup, diamond necklace, and tousled hairdo rounded it off.
Nominated for the Supporting Actress category for Oppenheimer, Emily Blunt bedazzled in her elaborate Elie Saab gown. Her statement jewellery added to the charm.
Dua Lipa captivated us in a bright red gown with a long train, designed by Valentino, with her vibrant red hair accentuating her glamourous appearance.
Bradley Cooper, in his 70s-inspired double-breasted jacket and flared pants combo, designed by Louis Vuitton, looked suave. While he lost in the Leading Actor category for Maestro, we can surely give him points for his fashion game.
Hollywood’s new IT boy, Paul Mescal, kept it sharp in a black suit with white embellishments, teamed with a white shirt.
And finally, the man of the moment, Cillian Murphy, walked out with an award in his hand for Leading Actor category in a head-to-toe black suit. While his outfit was quite underwhelming, he delivered consistency with his back-to-back monochrome looks.
Which is your favorite?
