The family of Ana Clara Benevides, a young woman who tragically passed away at Taylor Swift’s concert in Rio de Janeiro, was seen attending the singer’s final show in São Paulo, Brazil. In a video shared on X Sunday, Benevides’ family gathered in a VIP area at Allianz Parque stadium wearing T-shirts featuring the 23-year-old’s face printed on them.
It remains uncertain whether Swift’s team personally invited Benevides’ family, and representatives for the singer haven’t responded to Page Six’s request for comment.
Ana Clara Benevides experienced cardiac arrest at Swift’s Rio de Janeiro show just before it commenced. Efforts to resuscitate her at the stadium lasted for about 40 minutes before she was rushed to the hospital. Sadly, she suffered another cardiac arrest en route and was declared deceased shortly after.
Swift took to her Instagram Story on the night of the incident to express her devastation over the loss of a fan, stating she felt overwhelmed by grief and wouldn’t address the situation during her performances. However, fans believed her song “Bigger Than the Whole Sky,” performed on Nov. 19, was a tribute to Benevides.
Benevides’ father, Weiny Machado, shared his grief, describing his daughter as a happy and intelligent girl on the brink of graduating in psychology. He expressed a desire for an investigation into claims that the stadium prevented fans from bringing water amid Brazil’s dangerous heat wave, hoping to determine if negligence played a role.
Due to the extreme heat, Swift’s team and stadium staff were seen distributing water to dehydrated fans, with attendees even chanting for water. Swift herself was caught on video seemingly struggling in the heat. Consequently, Swift postponed the following day’s concert in Rio for the safety of her fans, crew, and performers.
As her South American tour wraps up, Swift will have a few months off before returning to the stage in Tokyo, Japan, for a series of performances in February.
